ITINERARIES IN ECUADOR

In no other country in South America you can travel so easily and discover such a diversity of interesting cultures and beautiful nature than in Ecuador. We have set up several itineraries for you, like classical Ecuador roundtrips, Ecuador in modules and Ecuador in special themes, on which you can experience the best of Ecuador in a limited period of time.

The itineraries depend on arrival and departure times of different airlines, ships and the train to the legendary 'Devil's Nose'. The following examples are only proposals and can be altered any time according to your wishes and interests. We are more than glad to put together for you your individual travel itinerary free of charge and without obligation.

MODULE SOUTHERN ECUADOR

Day 1: Cuenca, colonial city to fall in love with
Day 2-4: Vilcabamba, the "Valley of longevity"
Day 5-6: Machala
, "banana capital"
Day 6:
Guayaquil, pulsating coastal metropolis
Day 7: Module Coast or Galápagos or return flight

Day 1: Cuenca - Loja (205km) - Vilcabamba
Drive from Cuenca to Loja and continue from there to the valley of longevity in Vilcabamba. Here you can enjoy the mild temperatures and the breathtaking landscape.

Day 2 - 3: Vilcabamba
Go on a hike through Podocarpus National Park, which is the biggest coherent mountain cloud forest in SouthAmerica with an extraordinary biodiversity ("Botanical Garden of America").

Day 4: Vilcabamba - Machala
Today you continue your journey to Machala, capital of the banana industry.

Day 5: Machala
From Machala you can start interesting trips into the surrounding area.
Alternative 1: the stone wood of Puyango is the second largest of its kind worldwide. Here you can admire 110 - 120 mil years old petrified tree trunks, fossil marks of partly extinct plants and primitive animals. You can also observe a variety of birds, above all the popular hummingbirds.
Alternative 2: From Puerto Bolívar you can visit the mangrove island of Jambelí suitable for bird watching. Near the nice beaches overgrown with palms there are occasionally even dolphins playing. In the village, which is free of cars, you can enjoy delicious shrimps. Hotel Oro Verde Machala offers cabañas for a stay on the island or the return trip to Machala.

Day 6: Guayaquil
Visit Ecuador's biggest city (ca. 3 mil inhabitants), that is the lively seaport metropolis of Guayaquil. Stroll along the newly designed and attractive promenade Malecon 2000 and explore the picturesque artist quarter of Las Peñas. Also visit the iguana park (Parque de las Iguanas), the botanical garden and the Parque Historico. Here, on a 1 ½ guided tour, you will not only get an insight into the history and culture of the Ecuadorian coastal population, but also into the diverse flora and fauna of the region.
